The study is carried out from a Suprasternall approach, the long axis of the Aorta. The control volume is placed in the Descending Aorta (1 cm distal from the left subclavian artery junction).

Normally, the flow is directed away from the transducer and located below the baseline. After the aortic arch, the velocity increases. At the end of systole, there is a small reversal of the flow (R).
