Color doppler of the Transmitral diastolic flow
Echocardiography Textbook
The best position to study transmitral diastolic flow by Color Doppler is the Apical 4 chamber view. In this case, the flow is more parallel to the ultrasonic beam.
Other positions from which study can be done:
- Apical 2 chambered view.
- Left parasternal approach, the long axis of the heart.
- Subcostal four-chamber view.
Normal transmitral flow occurs only in the diastole phase, is directed towards the transducer and encoded in red color.
